Today on The Current:
- The emergence of a racist, anti-immigrant manifesto that was posted online shortly before a gunman opened fire into a crowded shopping complex in El Paso, Texas, on Saturday morning has authorities treating the attack as a hate crime. This was one of two mass shootings over the weekend in the United States, and investigators are working to pin down motives for the attacks.
- Jean Marc Villeneuve believed he had uncovered useful information into the 1986 killing of Kerrie Brown in Thompson, Man., where he worked as an RCMP officer. But as we hear today's episode of the CBC podcast, Someone Knows Something, he claims he was stymied by the man in charge of the investigation.
