Celebrated photojournalist Larry Towell on photographing the revolution in Kyiv
I'm looking for images that tell a story obviously and things that suggest sometimes what's going on outside of the frame, not necessarily what is in the frame, as poetry does with language.Photojournalist Larry Towell
For decades, Larry Towell has taken incredible and heartbreaking photos. From conflict zones in El Salvador to Rwanda -- but also from his back porch in rural Ontario. His work has resulted in thirteen books, hundreds of journal publications and exhibitions around the world. His new book about Afghanistan where he's been taking pictures since 2008, will be published by Aperture this fall.
And he's the first Canadian photographer to be associated with Magnum, the prestigious photo agency founded by Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa in 1947.
Larry Towell is also a poet and musician. He is just back from Kyiv and joined us from London, Ontario.
