What if your car was more like a horse?

Whoa, Nellie!
You never know, this could be the way you drive a car in the future. (Felix Ros)

It's going to take a while before people are fully comfortable riding in driverless cars. Felix Ros is a designer who believes that well-designed interfaces can help us learn to trust new and unfamiliar technologies. He explains Stewart, a prototype interface for driverless cars.

You'd place your hand on top of Stewart, and it moves -- all on its own -- to communicate what the car is doing, and what it plans to do in the future. For Felix, this is all about entering into a dialogue with your autonomous car, thinking of it as a teammate, the way you would if you were riding a horse.
