Canadian country star Jess Moskaluke was born and raised in Langenburg, Sask., a town with a population of about 1,400. It's a point of pride for the JUNO Award winner and three-time Canadian Country Music Association female artist of the year.

With her single "Drive me Away," from her new album due out in November, Moskaluke became the first homegrown female artist to crack the top 5 in Canadian country radio in nearly 10 years.

So you won't be surprised that Moskaluke is nominated in two categories at CCMA Awards coming up on the Sept. 10 in Saskatoon.

Tom Power talks to Moskaluke about what she expects to happen on the big night, her love for Shania Twain, and what it's like to be a woman in country music today.

You can stream music by all nominees ahead of the night, on CBC Music here
