Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy bring the story of Robin Cavendish to the big screen in Breathe
Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy talk about their new film Breathe which tells the story of polio survivor and pioneering disability rights advocate Robin Cavendish.
For some people with disabilities, the word "inspirational" is complicated. And when it comes to Hollywood telling stories about people with disabilities overcoming adversity, it can get even trickier.
With Breathe, the real-life love story of Diana and Robin Cavendish that had its world premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, Hollywood is trying its best to get it right. Robin, played by Andrew Garfield, was a polio survivor who became a pioneering disability rights advocate. The role of Diana Cavendish is played by Claire Foy.
We speak with Garfield and Foy about making a film about a disabled person, without falling into stereotypes.
Breathe hits theatres on Oct. 20.
