Pete Townshend, the lead guitarist and songwriter of The Who, is taking some of the biggest risks of his career right now. His latest project is a novel called The Age of Anxiety. It tells the story of two generations of Londoners fighting to make their mark in the music and art worlds, all while trying to keep their demons and the pressures of modern life at bay. Townshend joined q's Tom Power live from London to tell us more about the book, which he calls an "extended meditation on manic genius and the dark art of creativity."

Townshend's new novel The Age of Anxiety is out now and The Who's first album in 13 years will be released on Friday, Dec. 6.
