Thundercat is feeling drunk on his latest album

Thundercat's latest album, Drunk (out now), can be interpreted in many ways.

For the Los Angeles musician, it's a feeling — a certain disillusionment he's feeling particularly in these times. "It's just life, and how everything feels right now, socially," he notes. 

If Thundercat's name sounds familiar, it may be because he was a contributor on rapper Kendrick Lamar's 2015 album, To Pimp a Butterfly. It was a process that helped significantly boost his profile, but it was also a standout experience for him, too.

"I've never experienced anything like that in a working situation, ever," he says. "Working with him, it's like being kneaded like a piece of dough, pulling different things out of me."
