Alice Lowe is a pregnant woman acting on her killer instincts in Prevenge
Alice Lowe's new film, Prevenge, defies all cinematic tropes about pregnant women being weak or vulnerable.
Most people correlate pregnant women with weakness or vulnerability. Actress Alice Lowe wanted to flip that notion on its head.
Her newest film Prevenge finds Lowe, who also wrote and directed the film, acting on a pregnant woman's killer instincts — literally. This horror film, as Lowe explains, "deliberately defies a lot of cinematic tropes" assigned to women, especially those who are expecting.
The results of Lowe's "big experiment" tells a dynamic tale of an "anti super-heroine," one that Lowe — who was actually pregnant during the film's shoot — hopes will surprise audiences.
Prevenge will be available on Shudder this Friday.
