Chris de Burgh on the enduring success of his career and 'Lady in Red'
Many, many people know the song "Lady in Red," but how many can name the artist behind it?
British musician Chris de Burgh is aware that his name may not be as famous as his biggest hit, but 43 years into his career, he still knows that fans exist around the world.
"There's always ladies wearing red dresses," de Burgh admits, of the people who attend his shows. "I will usually walk into the audience and, it sounds cheesy, but I will dance with them. It makes the show, it makes them feel happy."
Among his favourite places still to tour, Canada is near the top of the list. "Canada has a great tradition of supporting songwriters," de Burgh explains. "I think it's the Canadian spirit that encourages people to dream a little bit. People just love stories."
Chris de Burgh's new album, A Better World, is out now. For a list of his upcoming tour dates, check out his website.
