Malcolm Gladwell has a way of seeing things differently and bringing out the unexpected in best-sellers like The Tipping Point, Blink and Outliers. Lately, the author and journalist has turned his attention to music with a new podcast called Broken Record.

You can hear a bit of Gladwell's fascination with different genres and musicians on his first podcast, Revisionist History, but on his latest podcast he takes his music obsession even further. Broken Record is all about songs you know and the people behind them.

To help tell these stories, Gladwell teamed up with legendary record producer Rick Rubin and former New York Times editor Bruce Headlam, who also happens to be his childhood friend.

Gladwell joined Tom Power from his home studio in New York to explain more about his new project. You can check out Gladwell's podcast Broken Record on iTunes or wherever you get your podcasts.
