q's Thursday Headliner: Electric Youth on how film influences their sound
In a segment that we call the q Thursday Headliner, we're kicking off the show with a live performance from a band or artist we think you need to hear.
This week, Toronto synth-pop duo Electric Youth bring their eclectic and smooth sound to the q studio for a live performance and chat with guest host Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe. Their new album is called Memory Emotion and it's out everywhere now.
Austin Garrick and Bronwyn Griffin are the voices and minds behind the group Electric Youth.
You may recognize them for their work scoring films. A few years ago their song, A Real Hero, was featured in the film Drive with Ryan Gosling. Garrick described it as "one of those great marriages between visual, film and music together."
Garrick and Griffin met when they were ten years old and explain how their shared experiences come through in their music and in this new album. Griffin said, "Memory Emotion, to us, is like a meeting point between the mind and the heart. The way music flows through your body or makes a person feel is unexplainable but we find that the music we make together represents that meeting point."
