Meet Desirée Dawson, Searchlight winner 2016

Desirée Dawson of Surrey B.C. strummed her faithful ukulele all the way to the top of Searchlight 2016.

CBC Music has completed its annual search for the best undiscovered voice in our country. This year over 2000 musical acts from across Canada entered — but in the end, there could only be one.

This year, Desirée Dawson is that one. The Surrey B.C. native strummed her faithful ukulele all the way to the top.

Today she swings through studio q to perform and chat with Shad about her big win.
