At just 23, Noelle Stevenson is taking the comic book world by storm.

The young writer and illustrator co-created the award-winning all-girl series Lumberjanes, and her debut graphic novel, Nimona, is set to be adapted into a feature film. She joins Shad to talk about the leap from the page to the big screen.

Stevenson's work is turning heads in a field typically dominated by men, where her diverse characters stand out and smash stereotypes.

"There's a whole world of people out here whose experiences are not being reflected in the media that they're reading," she explains. "And that does affect the way we view ourselves...and the people we think we can be."
