Has Hollywood killed the impact of on-screen death?
These days, are we less likely to reach for the tissue box when someone dies on screen?
Death at the movies just ain't what it used to be, says Alexander Huls. The journalist joins guest host Piya Chattopadhyay to argue that several factors -- including the rising influence of comic books -- are making audiences increasingly desensitized to on-screen death.
"It may sound morbid but one of the greatest entertainment pleasures in the film is the surprise death, or the death that means something," argues Huls.
We're curious: which on-screen death is burned into your brain? Conversely, have you ever watched a death that seems like more of a gimmick than a game-changer?
