Ron Sexsmith pays tribute to Leonard Cohen with cover of 'The Faith'

When Ron Sexsmith was just a teenager, he tried to listen to Leonard Cohen. 

"I was trying to understand what it was about him," Sexsmith remembers, later admitted he was perhaps too young to get Cohen's music at the time. 

But many years later, shortly after the birth of his first child, Sexsmith found a Cohen greatest hits compilation in the bargain bin at the mall and decided to give it another shot. 

"It changed everything for me," he says. "Everything became so clear. He showed me what kind of songwriter I would like to try to be or aim to be." 

Sexsmith stopped by the q studios this morning to discuss his love for Cohen and he performed a cover of one of Cohen's songs, "The Faith."
