Comedian Wyatt Cenac on awkward conversations we need to have
Wyatt Cenac began this interview with a point of clarification after we identified him incorrectly. "When I was at The Daily Show, I wasn't the 'Senior Black Correspondent'. That was Larry Wilmore ... I was hired simply as a correspondent, and my goal and my hope there had always been to be just a correspondent, and be the best correspondent that I could be."
In a conversation about the corrections we must make as a culture, our error is an interesting place to begin. The actor, writer and comedian is known for wading right into tough subjects like race and misogyny — a skill he brings to his new stand-up album, Furry Dumb Fighter.
Today he joins Shad to discuss his push for inclusion through comedy and razor-sharp commentary.
