Comedian Darryl Lenox joins Shad to share how nearly losing his sight revitalized his career.
Comedian Darryl Lenox has always had problems with his eyesight — and for a while, his career in comedy had its dark spots as well. But then a bar fight that almost rendered him completely blind ended up giving him new perspective.
Today he joins Shad to discuss his new 20/20 tour, why it can be easier to talk to strangers than friends, and why he'll always remember something his surgeon said in the middle of a risky surgery.
"This is just gonna hurt, and I'm sorry," says Lenox, who saw larger lessons in the painful procedure. "If you think about life, how many times could things have been better if people had just said that to you."
