Little Scream thrills with cult-inspired album
Nostalgia-tinged Little Scream performs live in studio q and tells us the strange inspiration behind the new album 'Cult Following'
Today's Friday Live guest is electro-soul rocker Little Scream. The Montreal-based singer-songwriter, Laurel Sprengelmeyer, is hot off the release of her retro-tinged new record Cult Following.
The emotional album draws heavily from real experiences. Sprengelmeyer tells Shad about watching the video of British Columbia teenager Amanda Todd — who took her own life after being bullied — and having a song pour out of her. She describes the feeling as, "wanting to do something to help and having it be far too late."
Little Scream performs three songs live. Sprengelmeyer also sits down with Shad to share the story behind the record, a trip to Brazil where she encountered a small community on the verge of becoming a cult.
