Michael Ironside brings his trademark villainy to Turbo Kid
Guest host Tom Power talks to Toronto born actor Michael Ironside about playing Hollywood tough guy villains and his new movie Turbo Kid.
Michael Ironside has built a long career on playing tough guy villains on the big screen, the latest of which is a water-hoarding warlord in the drought-stricken, post-apocalyptic world of Turbo Kid.
So you might be surprised to find out that the Toronto-born actor isn't a fan of gratuitous violence.
"I don't play violence as a solution," he tells guest host Tom Power. "I turn down films where the violence works."
But that's a tough line to toe in an industry where on-screen bloodshed often translates to big bucks.
Ironside joins guest host Tom Power for a revealing conversation about the responsibility he feels to avoid glorifying the actions of his characters — and the distressing reality that that doesn't always work.
