Patty Schemel opens up about drumming, addiction and Hole in new memoir
Drummer Patty Schemel, best known as a member of '90s rock band Hole, is putting out a new memoir called Hit So Hard: A Memoir, about her rise as a musician in the Seattle grunge scene.
In the '90s, Seattle became known as the world capital of grunge. The city blew up internationally when Nirvana came to the fore, and Patty Schemel was at the centre of it all.
Schemel is best known as the drummer for Hole, a band led by Courtney Love who was married to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. Many years later, Schemel is finally opening up about her time in that scene and her own rise as a musician in a new memoir called Hit So Hard: A Memoir (out tomorrow).
Today, Schemel joins host Tom Power to discuss her career, her friend Kurt Cobain and what it was like performing in Hole.
