Zaki Ibrahim on the inspiration for her new album The Secret Life of Planets
Zaki Ibrahim's latest project was inspired by the birth of her son, the loss of her father and the cosmic energy that binds us all together.
It's been almost six years since Zaki Ibrahim released her Polaris Prize-nominated debut album Every Opposite. That album introduced the world to a voice and sound influenced as much by her South African cultural lineage, as it was by her experiences growing up in Nanaimo, B.C. Ibrahim just released her full-length follow-up, and it's a project inspired by the birth of her son, the loss of her father and the cosmic energy that binds us all together.
Zaki Ibrahim joins Tom Power for an enthralling performance and chat about her journey to creating her new album: The Secret Life of Planets.
