Sunday night music's biggest stars were honoured at the 59th annual Grammy Awards. Today on q we break down what happened. Tom Power is joined by music writer Liisa Ladouceur and CBC's Amanda Parris to dig through the results of the Grammy Awards. Who won big, who got snubbed, who didn't show up, and who made headlines by talking politics.

Recent award ceremonies have been platforms for political statements directed at the Trump administration and its policies. On Sunday, A Tribe Called Quest's Busta Rhymes took a moment during his performance to share his thoughts. "Busta's really passionate, loud, totally in-the-moment call-out and statement were amazing, the visuals of them standing with their fists raised high as Phife Dawg rhymed was beautiful," says Parris.

One of the most surprising moments was when Adele won album of the year over Beyoncé's album Lemonade. Ladouceur thought the Grammys missed a chance to evolve: "I think this would've been an amazing opportunity for the Grammys to declare a tie, which is possible. Wouldn't that have been wonderful?" she says.
