More than 35 years ago, the Canadian heavy metal band, Anvil, came out with their second studio album Metal on Metal, which paved the way for bands like Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer. In spite of their huge influence on the heavy metal genre, Anvil drifted into obscurity and, for a long time, didn't get their due. That all changed with a 2008 documentary called Anvil! The Story of Anvil, about how the band got together, and stayed together, through decades of hard work and setbacks. Today, the lead singer of Anvil, Steve Kudlow, and drummer, Robb Reiner, join guest host Gill Deacon live in the q studio to reflect on the impact of that documentary 10 years later.

Anvil! The Story of Anvil is available on Netflix. If you're in Toronto, Hot Docs is hosting a 10th anniversary screening of the documentary tonight, as part of their Epilogues series.
