Connor Gaston wants to challenge your beliefs in The Devout
The writer and director talks about his debut feature-length film, The Devout, a drama about faith and reincarnation.
Connor Gaston didn't take things lightly in his debut feature-length film, The Devout. The movie, which came out in 2015, is about a Christian school teacher who experiences a crisis of faith when he starts to believe his terminally ill daughter has had a past life.
"It's a healthy thing to challenge your own beliefs so if this film accomplishes that then that would be great," says Gaston.
The film went on to sweep British Columbia's Leo Awards, taking home seven wins.
Today on the show, Gaston talks to host Tom Power about the film, the research he did on reincarnation and how he pulled it all off with a big crew and a small budget.
The Devout will make its Toronto debut this week at Carlton Cinema.
