A new Super Bowl ad is bringing back two of pop culture's best-loved characters: The Dude from the legendary Coen Brothers film The Big Lebowski, and Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw.

In the clip, Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) sits down in a restaurant and finds out what happens when she orders something other than her usual cocktail, a Cosmopolitan, and instead opts for a Stella Artois — a choice that wreaks havoc in the fine dining hotspot.

Soon The Dude (Jeff Bridges) arrives in his sandals and trademark sweater, and instead of a White Russian, orders a "Stella Artose."

Sarah Jessica Parker pays homage to her iconic role as Carrie Bradshaw in Stella Artois’ new spot, kicking off the brand’s Pour it Forward campaign to help end the global water crisis in partnership with Water.org. (Stella Artois)

The two end up sitting side by side drinking beer. "Excuse me. Good choice," says Bradshaw. "Changing can do a little good," replies the classic Bridges character in his trademark tone. "The Dude abides."

But the spot isn't only about selling beer: it's part of a collaboration between Stella and Water.org, an organization co-founded by Hollywood actor, writer and producer Matt Damon that helps millions of people around the world get access to safe water and sanitation through microloans.

Through the campaign, called Pour It Forward, every six-pack sold will fund access to six months of clean water for someone in the developing world; a 12-pack gives access to 12 months; and every bottle sold at bars and restaurants gives access to one month.

"Through our partnership with Stella Artois we have already helped change millions of lives, and we have the opportunity to change millions more," said Damon in a release.

Bridges stirred speculation about the return of The Dude with an Instagram post several days ago that said simply, "Can't be living in the past, man. Stay tuned."

Launched Monday, the 45-second commercial will appear during Super Bowl LIII on February 3.
