Shawn Mendes is a worldwide music superstar — but on the latest episode of Carpool Karaoke with late-night comedian James Corden, he showed off his Canadian roots.

In the episode, which aired on last night's The Late Late Show with James Corden, Mendes talks about finally moving out of his parents' Toronto home and getting his own place — although his mom still comes over to do his laundry — and about his obsession with Harry Potter. (He admits that meeting Emma Watson put him into a sweat.)

He also reveals just how much he would pay for a pair of Justin Bieber's underpants — and shows off the most Canadian thing about himself.

Along the way, he and Cordon perform snippets of his massive hits, among them "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back", "In My Blood", "Mercy" and "Treat You Better." They also give a taste of "Lost In Japan" from Mendes' just-released self-titled album, which entered the Billboard 200 in the top spot.

In the end, a clearly smitten Corden calls Mendes "just the loveliest guy on planet Earth."
