The Star is Born singer won her first Oscar, and told dreamers sitting at home never to give up
Pop megastar Lady Gaga won her first-ever Oscar for the song Shallow from the film A Star Is Born.
She and fellow actor Bradley Cooper performed an emotional rendition of the hit earlier in the evening, but Gaga's Oscar speech was just as powerful.
Also nominated for best actress, Gaga thanked her sister and her parents, as well as Cooper, before encouraging people sitting at home to follow their dreams.
"I have worked hard for a long time and it's not about winning, but what it's about is not giving up. If you have a dream fight for it," she said, fighting back tears.
"It's not about how many times you get rejected or thought you fell down or you're beaten up. It's about how many times you stand up and are brave and you keep on going."
