The digital life of Savannah Simon

Savannah Simon, from Elsipogtog First Nation in New Brunswick, is probably best known for creating the hashtag #SpeakMikmaq.

She has also posted hundreds of bite-sized language videos online, in an effort to teach people words and phrases in Mi'kmaq.

​Savvy says she wants to encourage people, both indigenous and non-indigenous, to participate.

While language is a passion for Savvy, her online videos touch on much more than that. In fact, the most popular video she's ever posted on her Facebook page is one that encourages positive self talk, called 'repeat after me'.
