From cancer treatment to a budding new romance, the documentary "Tig" takes us behind-the-scenes into the life of comedian Tig Notaro.

The doc was released this week on Netflix. For the film, directors Kristina Goolsby and Ashley York followed Notaro around for a full year, starting with her legendary show in October 2012 just a week after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. It's an exploration of creativity and self-identity in the face of overwhelming trauma, all told with Notaro's signature deadpan humour.

After "Tig's" world premiere screening this past April at the Hot Docs Film Festival, Brent sat down with Tig Notaro, her new partner Stephanie Allynne, and the filmmakers. Together they talk about friendship, risk, and the decision to turn a cancer diagnosis into a stand-up routine.
