It's being called one of the largest penny stock scams ever busted, and police say the $140-million scam was masterminded by four Canadians. Five Americans were also arrested. As of Friday, Canadians Gregory Curry and Sandy Winick, were still on the loose. Hartley Bernstein is a lawyer in New York who created the stock scam watchdog website Stock Patrol. He flagged Sandy Winick's activities as far back as 2006. Mr. Bernstein as also involved in a penny stock scam, after discovering some of his former clients were running illegal pump and dump schemes.
