Orange is the New Black: Transgender Actress Laverne Cox

Author  Piper Kerman's real-life tale of spending a year in a women's prison has been adapted into a hit TV show. Netflix's " Orange is the New Black" is being called the best new program of the season, partly for its eclectic ensemble cast that breathes life into characters who might otherwise only be known as statistics -characters such as Sophia Burset, the transgender inmate who runs the prison's salon. Sophia is played by Laverne Cox, who, like her character, transitioned from male to female. Laverne Cox joins Day 6 to talk about her new role and what it's like to be the first transgender actress on mainstream TV.
