Despite pressure from her family to have a traditional Indian wedding in Vancouver, CBC journalist Bal Brach knew it wasn't what she truly wanted.

These pressures inspired her to learn more about her own cultural traditions, and led her to create a new documentary about the business of big fat Indian weddings.

Bal ended up using what she learned from producing Little India, Big Business to help plan her own wedding—a modern, yet traditional destination wedding in Jamaica.

Little India, Big Business will be available on CBC TV on July 24.
