Before Benoit Huot became one of Canada's most decorated Paralympians, he wanted to be a hockey player. But because he was born with a club foot on his right leg, his mom helped steer him towards other sports.

Benoit was inspired to take up swimming after he witnessed Mark Tewskbury win gold in Barcelona.

Now, the athlete is a 19-time Paralympic medallist and will be representing Canada in the swimming pool next week in Rio. Benoit shares some of his secrets for success with Candy.

Tune in to hear a one-hour Paralympics special, Chasing Dreams, where Paralympic athletes share their stories of the close calls, mishaps, and tough decisions that have led to their success. The documentary airs on Monday, September 5, at 12 p.m. on CBC Radio One.
