Back to school in a brand new country
Roshaan Hajira helps immigrants find their footing at school
High school can be an intimidating environment for anyone. Now, imagine having to navigate the experience with an added challenge of being a recent immigrant.
That's what happened to Roshaan Hajira. Roshaan's family moved to Canada from Lahore, Pakistan, 10 years ago.
The whole family had to make a lot of adjustments in the new country. Roshaan, who was 11 years old at the time, faced the challenge of getting used to life at a Canadian public school.
Those first days of class were intimidating, to say the least. But once Roshaan started high school, she had the help of a program called Pathways to Education.
She talks to Candy about the program and how it helped her navigate those important years.
