Robin Youngblood survived a massive weekend landslide that hit Washington state in a rural area about 90 kilometres northeast of Seattle. On Saturday, a mountain gave way, triggering a huge landslide that buried more than 30 homes near the community of Oso. She survived the mudslide but many of her neighbours did not.

With at least eight people killed and dozens more still missing and unaccounted for, the resident recalls what it was like to live through the disaster.

"We looked out the window and saw this wall of mud racing across the valley," Robin Youngblood told Carol. "The whole thing was over in about two minutes."

She also described how the flowing mud not only destroyed her home, but the homes around her in rapid succession.  Hear Robin Youngblood's full interview with Carol Off by selecting the "Listen" button above.
