Tom Mulcair readies for this weekend's NDP leadership convention

The NDP leader says he's ready to burst Justin Trudeau's bubble, but first he has to win his own party's confidence in Sunday's leadership vote.

One way or another, this weekend's vote is going to be a defining moment, both for the NDP and for its leader, Tom Mulcair.

The party's convention kicks off Friday in Edmonton. And the focus is on Sunday's leadership ballot. Members are being asked to decide whether to reinvest in the man who led them to last October's disappointing defeat, or to look around for someone else.

The vote comes after Mulcair's own admission that he failed to offer Canadians what he called "an over-arching narrative" in the last election. And now a series of high-profile party members have come out arguing, albeit politely, that it's time for the party to find a clear new vision.
