Toronto rapper DijahSB puts their own spin on Nickelback's hit single "Burn it to the Ground," off of their 2008 album, Dark Horse, which took home the 2009 Juno Award for rock album of the year. While the original is a stadium-sized, headbanging anthem, DijahSB's version is an unexpected bouncing late-night dance track with them transforming the cadence of lead singer Chad Kroeger's lyrics seamlessly into a rap performance.

Nickelback will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at this year's Juno Awards in Edmonton on March 13, 2023. To celebrate the band's achievement, CBC Music presents Nickelback Sessions, a series of five new and surprising covers of classic Nickelback songs.

For this week's cover, Toronto rapper DijahSB is putting their own spin on the band's hit single "Burn it to the Ground," off of their 2008 album, Dark Horse, which took home the 2009 Juno Award for rock album of the year. While the original is a stadium-sized, headbanging anthem, DijahSB's version is an unexpected bouncing late-night dance track with them transforming the cadence of lead singer Chad Kroeger's lyrics seamlessly into a rap performance.

It's a cover that feels effortless, partially because it's a song that's been ingrained in DijahSB's mind for years. "Growing up, I was a big wrestling fan, and it was the Monday Night RAW theme song," they explained to CBC Music. "Honestly, I knew the lyrics way before I even knew what song it was. It was just a legendary song." And just like the wrestlers they watched every week, DijahSB put on a show in their energetic Nickelback session, which you can watch above.

Next week, CBC Music's Nickelback Sessions will feature a cover by Sonus Ensemble.
