Today, the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) have announced that Alberta rock band Nickelback will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the upcoming Juno Awards. To celebrate, Nickelback will perform live at the 52nd Juno Awards, which will be broadcast from Rogers Place in Edmonton on March 13, 2023.

"Returning home to Alberta, back to where everything started for us, is truly a full circle, milestone moment for the band," said frontman Chad Kroeger via press release. "We take so much pride in our Canadian roots and are extremely humbled by this honour."

Nickelback formed in the mid-'90s in Hanna, Alta., first as a cover band called Village Idiot. In 1996, Kroeger and bandmate Ryan Peake joined Kroeger's brother, Mike, in Vancouver, where the band currently resides. Today's lineup includes both Kroegers, Peake and Daniel Adair. While the band signed to EMI in 1999, it was its third album, 2001's Silver Side Up, that took off thanks to the hit lead single "How You Remind Me." The band has since become one of the bestselling acts to ever come out of Canada, selling more than 50 million albums worldwide and hitting more than 4.7 billion streams globally. At the end of the aughts, Billboard named Nickelback the top rock group of the decade. The band will release its 10th album, Get Rollin', on Nov. 18.

Nickelback won its first Juno Award in 2001 for best new group, and has since won 11 more over the last 20 years. The band's performance at its Hall of Fame induction in Edmonton will be Nickelback's sixth Junos performance to date. Previous Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees include Deborah Cox, Alanis Morissette, Barenaked Ladies, Joni Mitchell, Oscar Peterson and Rush.

Along with the Nickelback announcement, CARAS revealed today that pop singer Tate McRae will perform at the 2023 Juno Awards, and that legendary music manager Ron Sakamoto will receive the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award for his lifelong contributions to the Canadian country music scene. Juno Week events will be returning in 2023, including Juno Fan Fare, Juno Cup and Juno Songwriters' Circle.

The presale for the 2023 Juno Awards broadcast starts Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. MT — just head to ticketmaster.ca/junos with the presale code "CBC." Tickets to the 2023 Juno Awards go on sale to the general public on Nov. 18, starting at $49 (including taxes plus fees).
