Here's how to tune in to the 2019 Polaris shortlist reveal
Who do you think will make this year's top 10?
We're only a few days away from finding out who made this year's Polaris Music Prize short list. Every year, CBC Music teams up with Polaris to make the big announcement, but this year, we're doing things a little differently.
Tune in to CBC Music on Tuesday, July 16, at 2 p.m. ET for the live Polaris radio special as Raina Douris walks us through the 10 shortlist nominees. An artist and album will be revealed every half hour, which will be followed by an introduction to the nominated act as well as interviews with Polaris jurors. You can also follow along here at cbcmusic.ca/polaris.
The Polaris Music Prize short list was voted on by a panel of 199 Canadian jurors. (Full disclosure: a number of CBC Music producers are on the jury.) On June 20, a list of 40 longlisted albums were announced. Included on that list were records by Shawn Mendes, Carly Rae Jepsen, Jessie Reyez, Shad, Wintersleep and more.
A grand jury of 11 selected members will convene at the live Polaris gala on Monday, Sept. 16, to name a winner who will receive the $50,000 grand prize. The full event will be live-streamed on cbc.ca/music.
