High-pressure door-to-door sales prompt RCMP warning in Red Deer

RCMP say salespeople representing "Go Green" and "Eco Global" are operating in Red Deer without a licence

A series of complaints about high-pressure sales tactics has RCMP in Red Deer, Alta., warning the public to take precautions when opening the door to salespeople.
Residents have reported salespeople claiming to represent companies called "Go Green" and "Eco Global" requesting voided cheques and wanting to photograph residents' utility bills and even tax bills when attempting to sell attachments for water meters, said RCMP.
Neither company has the necessary licence from the City of Red Deer to sell door to door, according to the city's inspection and licensing department.
RCMP are reminding residents not to let strangers into their home unless they display the proper paperwork and photo identification. Even with the proper documentation, they have the right to refuse entry to people at their door.
Residents are advised to do their homework and look into the business and the topic before committing to anything, and never provide personal information without an intention to initiate a business relationship, said RCMP.
