2 men dead in gun violence over 24 hours
It was a violent weekend in Calgary resulting in the shooting deaths of two men in three separate incidents.
The first shooting victim is 30-year-old Jaimend Roberto Orellana-Sincuir. He was shot just after 2 p.m. MT in the 2600 block of Edmonton Trail in the neighbourhood of Winston Heights-Mountview. He was transported to hospital where he later died of his injuries.
A 20-year-old Calgary man has been remanded in custody and his next court appearance is scheduled for March 6.
Police believe the shooting was the result of a confrontation between the two people who knew each other.
2 dead in violent weekend
Another man died as a result of gunshot wounds Monday, according to police.
He was dropped off at the Peter Lougheed Centre around 2 a.m. MT, but was later pronounced dead.
Police are looking at footage to determine who might have dropped him off. The victim is not known to police, but family members are co-operating with the investigation.
Shaganappi shooting victim in critical condition
Just before 8 p.m. MT on Sunday, emergency crews were called to an alley behind an apartment building at 28th Street and 17th Avenue southwest in Shaganappi. They found a man, in his early 20s, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Several people had called 911 after hearing multiple shots.
He was taken to Foothills hospital where he remains in critical condition. He is conscious but not co-operating with police.
Police say a suspect took off in a small dark-coloured sedan. Investigators are not certain whether it was a targeted attack.
