The word “obey” does not exist in Indigenous languages. Our ancestors lived by their own unwritten systems of governance that emphasized maintaining harmony between all living things. The concept of obedience forced upon us by church and state altered our ways and our decision-making processes. Mamu, together, we’ll reassert our right to self-governance.
