EP 6: “Boston: A Radical Group Ready to Break the Law"
32 mins
Nov. 15, 2023
Webster and Cheikh travel to Boston, where Shadrach Minkins had managed to escape to avoid being sold to a slaver. They tell us how slave catcher John Capehart arrested Minkins under the federal Fugitive Slave Act of 1850. The pair then visits Boston’s Museum of African American History, where they learn about the radical, well-organized, and combative Black Boston abolitionists willing to defy the law to help the fugitives and put an end to slavery.
