Looking for an easy upgrade for your wall at home? This gorgeous wall hanging is an easy DIY project that you can pracitcally on auto-pilot while binge-watching an episode of your favorite show. Customize the colours to to fit your home decor, and it will come out equally stunning whether you choose bright hues or more subtle, natural shades depending on your aesthetic.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 6 balls of yarn in assorted colors
  • 1 ½ meters macrame rope
  • .60 meter dowel rod
  • 2 stick-on wall hooks
  • Scissors

Stick 2 command hooks on a flat surface 1 meter apart. Tie the end of your first color of yarn to one hook and loop the yarn between the two hooks 15-20 times. Lift one looped end of yarn off the hook and cut the yarn along the fold. Repeat this process for each color of yarn.

Take an individual piece of yarn and keep it folded in half. Slip the folded end of yarn underneath the wooden dowel and feed the cut ends of the yarn through the loop created by the fold. Repeat this process and add more strands of yarn, alternating colours to create a striped pattern across the whole dowel rod.

Take your 1 ½ meter long macrame rope and tie to each end of the dowel rod with a double knot. Trim the excess rope off and you're ready to hang!

You can leave your curtain as is, or you can use a pair of scissors to cut across the bottom to create a shape like a triangle, slant, or zig zag.

The key to making this piece picture perfect was alternating yarn colors and a modern shape. Switching up the width of each color block of yarn gives the hanging a streamlined but not "too perfect" design that looks way more difficult than it was to make. And the streamlined triangle shape we tri mmed at the bottom pulls the whole project together.

And there you have it - your new wall hanging to brighten up your home a little more.
