10 of the best winter looks from this year's Sundance Film Festival
Here’s what celebs like Pedro Pascal and Kristen Stewart wore to keep warm and look cool in Park City
This annual film festival, now in its 40th year, drew celebrities and independent film lovers to Park City, Utah, from January 18 to 28, 2024.
There's a fairly informal dress code at Sundance: many actors and filmmakers wear jeans and hoodies to premieres, and a surprising number of winter coats are donned on the red carpet. But there were also plenty of A-list celebrities and fashion plates in attendance, showcasing their unique styles at festival events and screenings.
Ahead, 10 of our favourite looks from Sundance this year.
Pedro Pascal
At the premiere of Freaky Tales, Pascal wore a cozy white and cream look from LA menswear label Airei's Fall/Winter 2023 collection, titled "Refuge, Deluge, Transfuge." Upon closer inspection, the stitching on the jacket and pants resembles chain link fencing, with some parts cut away and unraveled near the front of the jacket.
Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor
American actress and Origin star Ellis-Taylor wore a Burberry blanket cape to the Exhibiting Forgiveness premiere on January 20. The blue-and-white hooded wool cape is warm and perfect for the wintry weather, but also really catches the eye.
Justice Smith
The Red Carpet Fashion Awards website identifies this awesome patterned denim look as a runway jumpsuit from the Men's Spring/Summer 2024 collection from Italian brand MSGM. Smith styled it nicely for the colder weather with a white mock-neck top and lug-sole shoes to the I Saw The TV Glow premiere.
Qaher Harhash
A model and actor, Harhash wore an intricately embellished look from Arturo Obegero's Spring/Summer 2023 collection to the premiere of Stress Positions. The emerging French fashion label recently created custom performance outfits for Beyoncé and Adele.
Simone Ashley
Sometimes, less is more. That's certainly the case with the drapey white dress and patent leather boot pairing worn by Ashley to the 10 Lives premiere. The flowy, asymmetrical hem adds interest, and the sleek 'do by hairstylist Peter Lux complemented the minimalist look.
Alok Vaid-Menon
The poet and comedian sported several glam looks at Sundance, including this red strapless, 3D floral Mara Hoffman dress for the premiere of the short film ALOK. It was styled with coordinating red platform heels, and the black gloves with bows added a nice touch.
Kristen Stewart
Stewart, who received this year's Visionary Award, made several red carpet appearances. She wore Chanel for the opening night gala—Stewart is a house ambassador for the French fashion label—but opted for more casual, comfortable looks later on. This included a comfortable, layered outfit featuring a teal-coloured Carhartt jacket, cropped graphic tee, cuffed jeans and red sneakers.
Danny Ramirez
At the Winner premiere, actor Danny Ramirez embraced the stealth wealth trend in a monochromatic look featuring a variety of cozy and sleek textures. We swoon for the perfectly oversized fit of his double-breasted coat by LA label Fear of God.
Guetty Felin
A filmmaker and producer, Felin embraced bold colours at the Seeking Mavis Beacon red carpet while keeping warm. All the elements of this look worked well together—the colours of the patterned scarf matched her plaid pants, suede boots and maxi-length, insulated parka.
Yeelen Cohen
Also at the premiere of Seeking Mavis Beacon on January 20, filmmaker Yeelen Cohen demonstrated their mastery of layering and colour coordination. The layered denim trousers and skirt, combining multiple shades of blue, made for an eye-catching and original casual look.
