The week begins on an optimistic note, but harnessing our focus could prove difficult. When busy Mercury squares expansive Jupiter on Tuesday, it may be tempting to bite off more than you can chew. To keep yourself grounded, pay extra attention to how you're presenting yourself to others during this time.

Later in the day, you'll be ready to switch gears and start using your logical mind again, as communication-ruling Mercury enters ambitious Capricorn. When the messenger planet moves through this cardinal earth sign, we're able to control our words with precision, and have less time for chit-chat and dreamy thinking. With Mercury inhabiting this sign through the end of the year, it's an excellent moment to start working on moving your career and business dealings forward. But while this transit can sharpen our tongues and enhance our wit, knowing when to reign in the sarcasm and show compassion will be key.

When the emotion-ruling moon waxes full in impulsive Gemini on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning, depending on where you live, the desire to act with haste could come on strong, but try looking inward instead. If reflecting on the events of the past year feels overwhelming, consider how much you've grown and how you can continue to move forward with grace.

At the same time, the ego-ruling sun will oppose fiery Mars, which could put people in the mood to stir up conflict. During this transit, we often end up battling each other for control when we really should be working together. So if you find yourself clashing with coworkers, fight the urge to respond with passive aggression. Being honest and direct, and remaining calm, are the best ways to work within this tense energy and come out on top.

On Friday or early Saturday morning, our approach to love and money could start to shift, as resourceful Venus enters disciplined Capricorn. Rather than being driven by passion, we tend to prioritize security during this transit, and gravitate toward people who provide us with emotional and financial stability. If you're in a relationship, this could be a good opportunity to discuss plans for the future with your partner. Now is the time to be honest about what you want for your life.

Here is your horoscope for the week of Monday, December 5, 2022.

Aries

Do less, Aries. At the start of the week, you could find yourself overcome by grand ambitions, motivated to tick off every single item on your to-do list. It's more important to protect your time and energy though. Avoid overloading and overcomplicating your agenda, and you'll be able to gain traction as you work toward some of your loftiest goals. Meanwhile, if you feel tempted to start planning a last-minute winter getaway, be sure to listen to your inner accountant before booking any travels. Use your intuition to make intelligent decisions about your finances for the coming year.

Taurus

Don't believe everything you hear, Taurus. People may be more likely to oversell themselves at the beginning of the week. To protect yourself from potential losses, consider keeping your money matters private. Meanwhile, if you've been working on adopting a new attitude toward wealth and abundance, it's a good time to create a plan that will yield the results you desire. Harness your drive to lay out a blueprint for making your dreams a reality. You could also find yourself caught off guard by an intense conversation with a loved one during this time. Try your best to stay neutral and listen carefully so you can work together to find a solution.

Gemini

Brainstorming doesn't always yield results, Gemini. So go easy on yourself if you don't come up with any solid ideas this week. You can channel any excess energy into tackling your responsibilities at home. Midweek, you could be struck with a financial revelation when it comes to how you've been managing your cash flow. Use the positive spending and saving habits you've learned this year to help create a better sense of security moving forward. Then, as the weekend approaches, you may be inspired to invite friends over for a last-minute get-together. While people could be feeling lazier, they'll be more than happy to hang out with you.

Cancer

Find your own rhythm this week, Cancer. Instead of putting in the extra effort to get in sync with your coworkers and friends, you may want to take a step back to recalibrate. Consider how you express yourself without the influence of others — and don't hesitate to examine your shadow side in the process. Writing down your secrets, dreams and most profound emotions can help you release anything that's been holding you back. By the weekend, you'll be focused on running a tight ship at home, with planning, cleaning and reorganizing all on the schedule. Just remember to take some time to unwind — a little chaos can help keep things interesting.

Leo

Really think about how you want to spend your money, Leo. This week, a shiny new potential purchase could blind you from reality if you aren't careful. Keep your long-term goals in focus to resist temptation — you'll be thankful that you did. Meanwhile, try not to get defensive with others if any silly disagreements pop up. Your natural ability to smooth ruffled feathers will help you keep the peace, so long as you can maintain your composure. Near the end of the week, don't believe everything you hear at work. Exciting news could evaporate as quickly as it develops, so use his time to plot out your vision for your career instead of getting caught up.

Virgo

Take a time out, Virgo. You may notice that people are extra demanding of you this week, assuming that you'll just swoop in to save the day. While this is usually the case, coworkers and family members will need to learn to get by without you this time, so that you can work on recharging your batteries. Carving out moments alone to focus on your passion projects will revive your sweet spirit and help you find clarity. Meanwhile, with the holiday season in full swing, you may feel tempted to splurge on funky gadgets and tchotchkes. Do your best to avoid any purchases you might regret during this period — and be sure to keep all your receipts.

Libra

Give yourself some time to process, Libra. Communicating your innermost thoughts could prove a bit difficult this week, leaving you feeling as though you're tripping over your words. But if you can focus on prioritizing quiet moments, you'll be able to gather yourself and tend to your soul's true needs. Midweek, the atmosphere could turn electric as you start reflecting on your professional growth and dreaming up possibilities for the future. Furthering your education could steer your career in exciting new directions. Don't hesitate to share your ideas with loved ones — thinking out loud can help you to narrow your options as you explore what's next.

Scorpio

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is, Scorpio. So be sure to do your financial research this week and be cautious when discussing your cash with others, as people may exaggerate their ability to help you. As Venus moves into Capricorn toward the weekend, single Scorpios may feel the desire to retreat from the dating scene to focus on potential partners who are interested in something long-term. If you're in a relationship, you may realize that you and your partner need to get on the same page when it comes to your shared finances. Dissecting and discussing your budget will help you come back down to earth.

Sagittarius

You tend to see the best in others, Sagittarius. But you may want to be extra careful of who you allow into your world this week, as people could over-promise and under-deliver — especially at work. Use your past experience and knack for self-preservation to maintain healthy boundaries with colleagues during this period. Toward the end of the week, you might feel tempted to kick back and neglect your duties. Instead of letting go of your responsibilities entirely, use this time to tidy up your schedule, and then treat yourself to a little break so you can finish up strong. Your future self will thank you.

Capricorn

Do you feel a disconnect between your mind and spirit, Capricorn? Work on merging them by talking out your feelings this week. Finding a shoulder to lean on will help, but trusting yourself is the real key to getting on the right path. Meanwhile, romantic relationships could take centre stage in your mind, and you may find yourself reflecting on the effort you've put in with others. Avoid dredging up past hurts and focus on healing to move forward with hope. Near the end of the week, you could risk oversharing personal information with coworkers. Remind yourself to maintain boundaries, and show off your personality through your sense of humour instead.

Aquarius

How do you apply your creative mind, Aquarius? This week, look back at all the little ways you've innovated your lifestyle, and consider how you can further elevate your daily routines. Meanwhile, in social situations, you may notice friends speaking over each other — and you. Avoid trying to control the conversation and make room for others to feel heard. Breaking away from the group to connect one-on-one could help to dissipate drama. You'll feel more content once you've had a chance to discuss your vision for the future with your nearest and dearest. Getting the opinions of people you trust will help you lay a secure foundation.

Pisces

Guard your energy, Pisces. Extra projects could pop up early in the week and threaten to pull you in too many different directions. If you can take a moment to evaluate what you can really do, while still making time for your loved ones, you'll be able to establish a better balance between your personal and professional lives. Meanwhile, your acerbic wit could come out to play, giving people a glimpse of your inner comedian. Embrace this side of yourself to express hidden desires. Reflecting on the past year could also have you brimming with exciting ideas for 2023. Be sure to celebrate your biggest victories — and your toughest lessons.
