If the cottage is your happy place, you'll connect with this Toronto musician
Before winter hits, take one last trip to the country with composer Armen Bazarian
It pays to know a guy with a cottage. What's true in life is also true in web series — and after spending an entire season in downtown Toronto, this episode of The Places We Make Art finally breaks free of the big city.
Armen Bazarian is the artist who's leading the way. A former composer-in-residence at the Canadian Film Centre, he's a musician who scores commercials and web series in addition to developing his own personal projects. (He tells CBC Arts that he released an EP called "Brothers" this fall..)
But to recharge, Bazarian drives out to his place in Coe Hill, Ont., roughly 70 km northeast of Peterborough. Director Adam Crosby followed Bazarian to the woodsy spot.
"There's something about being isolated that forces you to close in on yourself," Bazarian says in the short. "It's this deeper connection with my senses and how they interact with the environment that feeds into the creative decisions and explorations that I make."
