Meet Advait Kolarkar, your new favourite four-year-old painter
A day in the life of the precocious four-year-old artist based in New Brunswick and in love with the world
Four-year-old Advait Kolarkar is already a force to be reckoned with. He was two years old when he first caught the world's attention during an exhibition of his abstract paintings in Pune, India. And now that he's a little older and wiser and living in New Brunswick, he's sticking to the same trajectory of becoming an artist to watch.
Since he moved to Canada, he's been the youngest artist to have his own solo show at the Saint John Art Centre. And in April, he exhibited his paintings at ArtExpo New York — no small feat for a four-year-old.

In his personal life, Kolarkar is curious and seeks out his source material in the outside world — he loves dinosaurs, space and being outdoors. Those are pretty normal things for a four-year-old kid. What makes this young artist so rare, though, is how he translates the things he sees in the world and in his imagination into large-scale abstract art works where the paint is dripped, dragged and splattered onto the canvas.
And lest you think that the works are accidental, think again. In each of Kolarkar's works, he's telling a story. In this video, you'll see him working on one of his newest paintings, called Tornado.
