18-year-old Maya Burhanpurkar is shaking up the scientific world.

At 15-years-old, Maya Burhanpurkar joined a graduate level study in theoretical physics and helped prove a centuries-old theory. Now 18, she's still shaking up the scientific world.

I'm just really excited and interested in everything, and that's caused me to learn as much as I can about as many things as possible.

Physics is not Burhanpurkar's only passion: music, astronomy, filmmaking, public speaking and astronomy are also part of this young woman's life and interests.

Burhanpurkar is one of a new generation of passionate change-makers profiled in CBC's new series We Are Canada. Watch the series Sundays at 7 p.m. on CBC and online.
