The daring plan that led to the Battle of the Plains of Abraham
In 1759, British General James Wolfe storms Quebec, culminating in the Battle of the Plains of Abraham.
By 1759, the British are looking to fortify their trading monopoly across current-day North America. After crushing French settlements along the eastern seaboard, they set their eyes on New France.
Under cover of night, British General James Wolfe attacks the fortress-surrounded Quebec City, founded by Samuel de Champlain 150 years earlier.
The surprise attack forces French General Louis-Joseph de Montcalm into a battle on the Plains of Abraham.
Both Wolfe and Montcalm don't make it out of the (very short) battle alive.
